The Autumn Makeup Menu

The Autumn Makeup Menu

There’s something about the change of season that makes me want to refresh my makeup palette – swapping bright summer metallic’s and bare as you dare skin tint’s for a subtle wash of warm autumnal shades.

This transitional makeup palette consists of a few favourites along side some new season additions. A welcome makeup bag refresh.

For base I’m loyal to the ever-popular Make Up For Ever Ultra HD foundation. The new formula improvement’s have given rise to an even more dewy finish, it contains a larger percentage of water making it even more light weight whilst still providing that famous light-diffusing invisible medium coverage, evening out skin tone, imperfections and discoloration with a skin like finish.

On cheeks: By Tom Ford the Limited edition Runway Colour A/W15. Tom Ford’s take on a hint of Autumn as used on the AW/15 runway’s. This versatile eye and cheek product creates a creamy, subtle sheen on cheeks a fresh, incandescent look that’s perfect for everyday wear. The formula is uber-smooth, non-creasing and very long wearing. A blush update is one of the simplest changes to embrace to make your makeup more autumn-appropriate. I use a Sigma flat kabuki brush (F80) to lightly stipple and blend out onto the cheeks.

Another staple. The ultimate concealer in my opinion (keep your NARS radiant concealer and Touch Eclat) if you suffer from very dark circles this is – the one. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage is a solid camouflage concealer that comes in a two shade palette so you can customise to your exact skin tone (exactly as a makeup artist would do) apply to the inner triangular area of the eye avoid taking further out to minimise ceasing. I set lightly with *MUFE HD Powder. Choose peachy shades to counteract greenish-purple tones.

I’ve been tempted with two Charlotte Tilbury product’s recently firstly is the Full Fat Lashes Mascara which delivers everything it claims curl separation, volume, length, and drama – the falsie effect without fall out or clumping. I like the fact that it’s a bristle brush and avoids finished lashes looking hard and dull instead appearing almost silky. Next is Charlotte’s Lip Cheat Re-Shape & Re-Size Liner (in pillow talk) which was well worth the splurge I used this to completely line the lips, waterproof and lasting easily for six hours this extends the wear of my lipstick no end.

My eyeshadow palette of the season goes to the talented Lousie Young and her gorgeous Festival Trio palette. The palette contains 2 matte shadows and one pearl shade. I really enjoy eye shadow trio’s smaller, more compact and designed exactly for what you need: Lid (Tipi ), crease (Grain ) and highlight (Moon Shadow) these shades combine divinely together producing the perfect Autumnal semi neutral look. On extra long day’s, I apply primer potion to extend wear time. Brushes used: Sigma E55 to apply, MAC 217 for blending, Tom Ford eyeshadow blend (13) for the crease.

Not all highlighter’s are made equal. The collaboration between the Australian brand Becca and respected makeup artist Jaclyn Hill have created a breathtaking highlighter that truly epitomise’s radiance. The shade, a soft peachy champagne tone, so unbelievably flattering and universal for almost all skin shades. The texture velvety smooth. The pigment intense but in no way overdone. The glow visible but not faux, no visible glitter just a lit from within radiance offering an instant boost of life to even dullest of complexions. I doubt I will ever bore of this highlighter.Yes, it’s really that good. Applied with a Sigma tapered face (f25)

No heavily defined brows for this look simply a few flicks of MAC Longwear Waterproof Brow Set  which adds a sheer tint of waterproof colour, and set’s into place – nothing more.

Finally NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Biscayne Park I think I’m a little late trying out this nude lip shade already coveted by so many, but it was certainly worth the wait a nude shade with the slightest corol undertone, easily universal for both brunettes or blondes. A smooth satin finish not glossy but certainly not matte the soft pencil just melts on the lips this has definitely become one of my go-to neutral lip colours.

So, that’s the makeup I’ll be adorning this season – what will you be wearing?

Ohh I love the look of everything you’ve mentioned, although the only thing I’ve actually tried is the brow set. I’ll definitely be wearing some more glowy products with the change of season, the elf Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky is one of my favs (: Great post! xx

Has Tom Ford got any autumnal lipsticks? I’ve used a couple of his lipsticks before and they have such great pigmentation, but they were very bold. I’m not sure he has anything that would go with the look you’re presenting..?

      • He has quite a large range now, there’s a lot of more natural/ neutral shades than previously – Selfridges stocks the largest range I’ve found. Thank you for the comment k x

  • Pillow Talk sounds like such a lovely liner! I have the Jaclyn Hill/Becca collab highlighter and it’s truly gorgeous isn’t it. Such a dream pairing!

  • OhHay!

I’ve not given my make up a total overhaul in so long so I think with the change of seasons it’s definitely time for it and some of these products will be perfect for that!
