I’m very excited to introduce the first guest post today on Abracadabra Girl, by the delightful Tasha Meline as if you follow my Instagram you may have noticed I’m on vacation! If you don’t already know Tasha she has a pretty outstanding beauty blog so be sure pop over and check it out (links below).
After a long back and forth with my lipstick drawer, I decided that there were 3 main formulas that I use throughout summer although in varying shades I do tend to go for pinks and brighter colours. I have compiled a little top 6 of lipsticks that I predict will be on my lips all summer long. In my list, I have included matte, cream and sheer formulas with two lip products from each.
Mattes are a must during the long summer days as they provide beautiful colour to the lips, stay put and last throughout busy days whether shopping all day or touring around holiday locations, mattes are definitely the way forward for every season.
1 – ColourPop Lippie Stix / I Heart This: This is a gorgeous punchy colour to wear throughout the warmer months, this matte formula is so long wearing It leaves a stain behind which I personally like as the lip product tends to fade more even throughout the day. Colourpop stix are not available in the UK but if you are able to get your hands on some of these I definitely would! They are $5 each (yes you read that correctly) full of pigment and come in a huge variety of colours.
2 – NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil / Dolce Vita: The NARS Velvet Lip Pencils are amongst my favourite matte formula, if not my favourite. They glide on smoothly, don’t dry my lips out after prolonged wear and come in some truly stunning colours. Dolce Vita is a neutral rose colour and although very natural a perfect pairing for a Summer outfit. They cost £18 each and you can find a lip swatch of this particular shade here.
I don’t think creams need much explaining but they make great holiday companions as they are easy to use, add a pop of colour to the face and some of the easiest formulas to track down whether you are looking for a high-end addition or something from the drugstore.
3 – MAC / Lovelorn: You’ll notice that both of my cream picks are by MAC as their cremesheen and lustre formulas are one of my favourites. Lovelorn, in particular, is a great way to add a touch of pink without being too in your face or too bright. These last about 4 to 6 hours on my lips but can be extended with a matching lipliner.
4 – MAC / Creme Cup: Hailed the perfect nude for just about anyone, MAC Creme Cup always makes it into my favourites. I always leave mine in my bag and more often than not it is the one I pick up when I am not too sure of what colour I want. It’s easy to use, pulls together any makeup look and is just the right consistency to use with ease, you can find a lip swatch here . I also highly recommend Peach Blossom (I need to re-stock on this one as I used it all last Summer).
5 – Bareminerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm / Pink Passion: A new launch to the UK but not one to be sniffed at. I know this will be on my lips all Summer long as they provide a great wash of colour whilst nourishing the lips and putting all the moisture back in. The Lip Oil-Balms come in 8 shades, 4 Passion shades which give a wash of colour and 4 Pop shades that have a more vivid colour pay off. Definitely a product to get your hands on!
6 – Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain / Honey: This has been a favourite of mine for a few years now. As it is such a sheer wash of colour I find them great for sticking in a bag or pocket just so I have something for on the go. It adds a little bit of definition but definitely gives my lips a better kind of colour.
That sums up the six lip products I will be reaching for most. No doubt I will add a few more to my collection as I seem to get a bit summer happy in the lip department.
