Beauty: 6 New Spring Fragrances
The start of a season is always a good excuse to invest in a new fragrance, and as the sun starts to peek out for a little longer each day so it seems time to pack away winters fragrance and opt for something a little lighter.
So here’s a rundown of some of the newest releases for S/S15
Florabellio is the latest launch from the iconic french perfume house Diptyque (£58 for 50ml-released this week) it’s a limited edition available only via Space NK which is where I sampled this new delight. Florabellio burst’s open with the scent of apple blossom, but this fragrance is in no way floral. It’s simple, sharp with hints of lemon and apricot it’s invigoratingly fresh and hidden notes of coffee (yes coffee) provide a warm roasted base note. It’s beautifully versatile but not overpowering. It’s the perfect spring fragrance update.
Burberry Brit Rhythm floral – An updated version of the original, this fragrance is bright, citrus-y and mildly fruity at the start, with heart notes of lilac, lotus, jasmine and base notes of musk with woods. It’s a delicate floral fragrance with an intoxicating dry musk-y after-scent. If you like that sort of thing you will love this one. Burberry Brit Rhythm floral £69 for 50ml released March/15.
Mandarino Di Amalfi by Tom Ford. This is an all time favourite of mine and although, not a new release it captures all the uplifting elements of spring perfectly, so it couldn’t be missed. It’s centered around the essence of mandarin as the name suggests with less noticeable notes of lemon, mint, blackcurrant, grapefruit, basil and black pepper with lingering notes of vetiver and musk. It’s long lasting, deliciously decadent and typically Tom Ford.
Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de toilette – Released in March this latest offering from L’Occitane (75ml for £52.00) is a Combination of white and blue iris, fruity notes of blackcurrant, citrus and subtly spiced with ylang-ylang and white peaches. It’s a full on floral fragrance, with a slight powdery afternote. It might not be to everyone taste, but I quite liked it…..
Cool Swirl Delicious Delights – One of three new spring releases from DKNY (£37 for 50ml released March/15) I’m not a fan of overly sweet fragrances but thought this one sounds quite nice with the addition of coconut and violet leaves. I’m looking forward to trying it, but in the meantime here’s what’s inside: blackcurrant, violet leaves, coconut water, magnolia, jasmine, pistachio heliotrope, musk & patchouli.
